Just another out-of-work day for actor Jean-Michel turns upside down when a confrontation leaves a racist cop dead and Jean-Michel on the run. As Jean-Michel tries to convince street photographer Audrey to escape the city with him, he finds himself at the center of a nationwide reckoning with racial injustice. Set at the height of the George Floyd protests against the surreal backdrop of the early pandemic, Out of Breath confronts the ambiguous relationship between individual responsibility and structural oppression.
